Creating website

I start creating my website. To make it I used Wix.

Firs I chose template.

After that I had to customise it, so I changed name. Then I adjust style and fonds. I chose League Spartan and size 80pts.I also delete texts I didn't need to.

The next step was changing navigation bar. I adjust fond and delete unnecessary pages. I left only Portfolio, Home, About and Contact.

After doing those things,
I changed the copyright sign.I put in my name, the correct date and changed the font. The copyright lives in the footer and should appear on each page.

Finally, I changed the background using one of the free photos included in the creator

Once completed, I saved the website. I'm not publishing it yet because I will be making changes.

Then I checked the mobile view. Because the subtitles were too light and blended with the background, I changed their colors to darker ones.

Project Sign Off: The Professor

I have now signed off my project on "The Professor". It will be a short film which I will use clips from YouTube videos. I will also use copyrightfree music and add subtitles as a comment.

This is my Project Sign Off . I will be working on it until the end of the semester.

Initial Research: Jason Hehir

For my film project I will create a short film showing the story of "The Professor", a steetball player. That's why I looked at the work of Jason Hehir, who was the director of a documentary that presents the Michael Jordan's basketball career in the Chicago Bulls. Hehir grew up in Newton, which is in the Boston metropolitan area. He was interested in sports from an early age. "As a kid, he once figured out where Doug Flutie and Gerard Phelan lived on the Boston College campus and went to their dorm room, where they were kind enough to share a pizza with him"(Finn 2020). He was also involved in sports himself, playing baseball at Newton North High School and Williams College. After graduation, he worked for NBC Sport and HBO. Below is the trailer of his greatest work "The Last Dance".

In the video above we see the trailer of the series "The Last Dance".
To create this series, Hehir interviewed over a hundred people, but the most important figure was Michael Jordan. The biggest “get” of all, though, was Jordan himself, without whom there would be no docuseries(Carey 2020).The series showed many match shots, after which basketball players from that era gave comments. Off-the-field situations were also shown, commented on by the main character. By involving many figures from pop culture, such as famous rappers or presidents, this story is very captivating because it shows Jordan's influence on all people. The storytelling is thrillingly detailed, and performative too. The beauty of basketball lies in its interlocking details, the way players, skills, tactics and backstories elide in a snapshot, creating that dizzyingly rich athletic ballet(Barney Ronay 2020).

In my work I will want to show how to edit shots from the basketball court.

Final Project: Initial Idea

For my final project in this term I will make short movie. I want to show in few minutes the evolution of filmmaking. Using film clippings and photos edited together, I want to show how cinematography developed. In the video I want to show snippets of films from each decade.

This first ever film combines photos together to create the illusion of motion picture.

Casablanca is a timeless film made in the 1940s.

Avatar is the film that brought the highest revenue in history and the second part is third in the ranking behind Avengers: Endgame.

Another idea is to make a video in which I show different aspects of filmmaking and their evolution. How the equipment and the way of creating films have changed from the first cameras in silent movies to modern times and 3D technology.
I got some ideas from the video below.

I find the idea of showing shots of films from different eras so that you can see the contrast between them very interesting.

The Final Advert

This is the end result of my work.

Advert

I had to spend a lot of time creating this ad because I'm still learning how to do it. I think the end result is satisfactory.

Creating the Advert

I decided to make an advertisement for a course for filmmakers named "F.S.Filmmaking". I made the advert in the free version of Adobe Express.

First I will make a logo. To do this, I need to log in to Adobe Express.

I logged in via my Google account.

Then I started looking for the "Logo" icon.

I used free photo from the "Elements" tab.

After finding the right graphic, I added text

Then I adjusted the font and size of the text.

Finally, I removed the background to make the logo transparent.

Once I had the logo, I started making my advertising.

Becouse the brief requires A4 size, I had to open the "Flyer" tab.

Then I opened "Your stuff" and dragged the logo.

I set a previously selected photo as the background and resized it to filling the entire page.

Because the added image covered the logo, I had to change the order of the layers

Next I added text that was a tag line and I placed it in the right place in the photo. Later I adjusted the style, color and font size.

Advert Ideas and Plan

Since I would like to become a filmmaker in the future, I have chosen to make an advertisement for a filmmaking course. I decided that my ad would be simple, without too many overlapping photos and texts.

I looked for inspiration in other advertisements.

This advert shows filming equipment on the road, which may suggest that after the course you will be able to become a traveling video blogger or vlogger. I like that the subtitles do not obscure the film equipment.

Below we see a photo sequence showing how to adjust the focus. In an interesting way, it shows recipients that they will gain important technical skills during the course.

This image shows a certain mystery. It may suggest that during the course we will learn how to use light, shadow and perspective to achieve a mysterious effect.

After looking at these ads, I decided to show the film equipment, logo and tagline in my advevert. The logo and inscriptions will be in the foreground and third background.
As a background, I will use a free photo downloaded from unsplash.com, showing the camera operator at work.

Practice Ad Creation

I decide to make an advertisement for the company "Noodlehead". I used Adobe Express to create this Ad.

First, I had to sign up for he free software Adobe Express to create logo.

I used my Google account to sign up. I chose the free version which has fewer features, but enough for my needs.

After signing in, I looked for a Logo Creator. I had to find "Logo" button and entered it. I didn't use template, but I create it from scratches.

I used "Element" tab to chose image of noodle, to represent my noodle company.

Once i add picture, I could use "Text" tab to write company name under the logo.
I also remove the background from logo, so it won't interfere with advertising.

Once I made the logo, I started making advertising. Very helpful was "Flyer"

After opening "Flyer" I chose "Your Stuff" and dragged out logo I made earlier.
I added it as an Image. The logo can be moved and sized.

The next step was to add the background. I went to "media" and looked for a photo of noodles. When I found the right one, I dragged it and resized it. Because the logo was added before the background, it was hidden. To change this, I rearranged the order of the layers on the right so that the logo is on top.

Finally, I entered the "Text" tab and added a short line tag. Using the tools on the left, I adjusted the font and size of the inscription.

It is a sequence of photos, showing a young man with his head resting on a shiny countertop, and his eyes closed. With each subsequent photo, the man is increasingly covered with flowers, which symbolizes funeral but also rebirth.

Solo Sequential Images

I created the sequence at home. I used POCO X3 to take photos. I took the photos at night, and the lighting was an ordinary light bulb hanging over the object, which was breakfast biscuits. I placed the biscuits on a black background.

I created a set of contact sheets from the photos I took. I used a contact sheet generator to do this.

Then I edited my sequence in Pixlr E editor.I created a white background on which I added six photos. I rotated them to landscape orientation. I added my photos by clicking on the file and open. Then I adjusted their size and placed them symmetrically. Finally, I added the title and my name using the text tools.

For the second job of this type I've done, I think I did pretty well.
I know I can improve a lot, but the photo editor is still new to me.

Sequence Image

I create sequence at University  using Google Pixel 6 Android phone with natural light from window illuminating one side. Background is a white wall, who contrasting with dark clothes.  My brother is the model.

I created a set of contact sheet and online a contact sheets generator.

Appearance

The final part of my work was editing photos in Pixlr E editor. I used template to make collage. Thn I uploaded my images adding each photos to a separate frame. I changed the transparency of the photos, increasing it by twenty percent in each subsequent photo, starting from 20 percent in the first photo, and ending with 80 percent in the last one. Finally, I saved the photo on my desktop as JPG.
